4 Part-time 2 days ago Full Job Description JOB IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THE PART TIME RECREATION AIDE POSITION, YOU MUST COMPLETE A SEPARATE APPLICATION.
This is a part-time position involving the safe and efficient delivery of meals to program sites.
This position is responsible for picking up and delivering summer meals, after school meals and snacks to program sites.
The Part Time Recreation Aide (Programs) also assists staff in program activities.
Employees in this position may work some nights and weekends as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Serves as food service driver for feeding program.
Cleans and performs preventive maintenance on food service vehicle.
Coordinates meal delivery for routes and equipment pick up.
Maintains required record keeping such as meals delivered, mileage, fuel, etc.
for feeding program.
Maintains compliance with rules and regulations of the Leisure Services Department and Alabama State Department of Education.
Maintains equipment and supplies for feeding program operation.
Assists with programs and special events KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION Skill to organize and maintain records and reports.
Skill to maintain accurate and updated information for program operation.
Skill to operate a motor vehicle and safely deliver meals to program sites.
Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, program staff, participants, and community members at large.
Ability to work indoors or outdoors for extended hours.
Ability to coordinate meal routes.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance on food service vehicle, such as check tires daily, refuel vehicle daily, check the oil, and clean vehicle thoroughly.
Ability to inventory equipment and supplies.
Ability to perform all job duties in compliance with the established rules and regulations of the Dothan Leisure Services Department (or designee) and Alabama State Department of Education.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS The Recreation Aide (Programs) assigns work in terms of detailed and specific instructions.
The supervisor spot-checks work in progress and upon completion for accuracy, adequacy, and adherence to instructions and established guidelines.
GUIDELINES Guidelines include safety regulations, Health Department guidelines, State of Alabama Department of Education, and city and department policies and procedures.
These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK The work consists of related supervisory and administrative duties.
Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the work.
CONTACTS Contacts are typically with co-workers, other city employees, parents, vendors, and the public.
Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, running, bending, crouching, or stooping.
The employee regularly lifts light objects, and occasionally lifts objects up to fifty (50) pounds.
The work is typically performed while on route, indoors and outdoors, occasionally in cold, hot, or inclement weather.
The employee may be exposed to inclement weather, noise, dust, and dirt.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY Supervises the pickup and delivery of meals, as well as program activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from a standard senior-high school or GED equivalent, as recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) or Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
Six (6) months experience in food service and delivery preferred.
Six (6) months experience in customer service preferred.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Valid operator driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
(PBA 9/10/01) An applicant for this position is subject to various background investigations up to and including a criminal, credit, past employment, and reference checks.

Employees are required to submit to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with the City of Dothan policy which includes pre-employment and random tests for the duration of employment in this position.
(PBA 08/13/12).
Must meet the City of Dothan's employment physical standards which include drug/alcohol testing.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
